Join Me, On the Food Side

On the food side you choose what, when, and how much to eat based on what feels good. You see food as opportunity to feed your body and soul. Food becomes a pal and a confidant. You are able to choose food because it generates a desired feeling; safe, content, nourished, satisfied, happy, nurtured, strong, sustained, etc.”

Eating on the food side means freedom. It gives you the space to live your life fully and let go of judging, obsessing, and weighing your food choices.

At times your experience on the food side may be muffled by the daily grind of simply fueling the experiences of your day. Your intake could become routine based upon the ebbs and flows of your schedule, family, and social life. It adjusts around your busy morning, what works for a quick lunch, and the best ways to keep evenings easy and fulfilling. Then, there are times when work is stressful, you get a flat tire, your throat is a bit scratchy. So, you make some choices that are soothing. Or, you’ve finished your degree, your kid gets an award for the thing they love, you’re on vacation! Your meal choices become celebratory and fun. All of these choices look different for everyone, and they’re all acceptable and good, no matter the reason, occasion, or desired feeling.

I won’t take the time to discuss individual “goodness” of foods because they’re all ok, whether a burger, a salad, or milkshake they can all be included in a normal, healthy diet. No ands, buts, excepts, or as long as’s, they all belong on the food side, as do you!

The journey to the food side may not be easy, it may not even make sense to you at first. All I ask is that you get curious, ask yourself some questions about your current eating habits, your rules around eating and food, and your self-talk. Consider the impact of a feel good relationship with food and the positive effect it could have on your quality of life, ability to connect, and overall wellbeing.

Consider it- and then, join me, on the food side!
